What benefits are payable to survivors of a worker whose death is caused by a work-related accident?

In Colorado, benefits are payable to the surviving dependents of a worker who is killed as a result of a work accident.

 

Who is considered a dependent?

Generally, a spouse and minor children are considered to be dependents, and are entitled to monetary benefits.

Other dependents may be covered, depending on the circumstances.

The employer or insurance company is also required to pay certain funeral and burial expenses when a worker dies from a work-related injury.
